I have a project in 29.97. I need it to become a 24fps project. On line is form HD 24p. i was workiong wioth downconverts.
I simple started a new project with sequences at 24fps.
Then I copied the 29.97 sequence on to the new 24fps sequence.
this seems to be working although there are fixes along the way.
I have imported a QT of the old sequence into the timeline as a guide. I realize bringing the 29.97fps Qt into the 24 a pulldown occures to allow it to play.
The question is when fixing the 24 to match (relatively) the old 29.97 should I be fixing picture to audio or audio to picture?

truthfully… this is not the proper way to to this….

Instead…use cinematools to convert a 24 fps EDl (that you output from your project) to 29.97 edl. You will not have these missing error frames.

It is better if this hasn’t gone to audio post yet the way you’re doing it now.

Itb has not gone to audio.

The projcet needs to go from 30 to 24 not the other way around.

Could you tell me the work-flow with Cinematools?

make a 3600 cmx edl from final cut pro (29.97)

Open cinema tools. Skip the database opening screen at the open start.

    Go to FILE/EXPORT/CONVERTED EDL/ 24 from 30

This will be the 24 frame edl that will match the 24 frame numbers on the ONLINE MASTER.

Remember… if there’s more than 1 video track you’ll have to make FCP VIDEO TRACK OUTPUT EDL’s for each track or condense them down to as few tracks as possible.
