I’ve been having a problem with the 3-way color corrector lately, I can color correct everything to where I want it, but then when I render it everything changes. Here are 2 specific examples, I had a guy with a red shirt that was way too hot for broadcast, so I threw on the 3-way and did the limit effect to just his shirt and brough the chroma down. Everything looked great until I rendered it. Right when the render was done the scene changed back to the original color! I couldn’t get it to stick, everytime it was rendered it would loose everything I had done.

And then today, a different editor on a different system (with a Kona 2) set his black levels to 7.5 annd then when he renders it jumps back down to 0 IRE.

Is anyone else having this sort of problem?

[Steve Morrison] “Is anyone else having this sort of problem?”

Nope, it all takes here. I use the Best Quality setting in the Video Processing Tab and the levels all hold as they appear when I set them.

I guess trash your prefs, ensure that your Quicktime / FCP versions are all up to snuff, etc….

What scopes are you using to adjust the blacks to 7.5%? Not FCP scopes I hope!

I Have tried trashing the prefs, using FCP rescue by the way which is a cool little app that makes a simple job even easier, and have still had this problem. What gets me is it’s happening on three different systems.

    Thanks anyway,

Definitely not the FCP scopes, got an old but still good techtronics.

I guess you’re applying the color corrector the wrong way. Load the clips into the viewer by doubleclicking on them in the timeline, not in the browser.

    1) Do you have the filters box checked in the user preferences>render control tab?
    2) Which ever color is appearing above your clip in the timeline, do you have the same color checked in the drop down render menu when you select sequence>render…….
