3 things that annoy me about Vegas, anyone else
Just small quibbles here but I wish they would get fixed. Well one is more of a workflow thing and I guess I will start with It. I would love to be able to right click in a bin and select ‘import media’, it seems so arcane to have to leave the bin to be able to select import.
The next two are pet bugs of mine.
# 1. Lets say I have maybe fifteen, or any number you like, folders in the Vegas Dock. All these folders are sub folders of the parent ‘Media Bins’ folder. When the parent folder is expanded you have a vertical list of all folders. Great! But why oh why does this expanded folder view collapse back to the ‘Media Bins’ parent folder every time you do a ‘Ctrl Z’. Most annoying to have to expand media folders and navigate back to where you were prior to the undo. I don’t know any other system that collapses a folder tree when you hit ‘undo’. This badly needs a fix.Likewise,
#2. Again related to folders. I have certain clips in certain folders only to find time and again that I can go into a folder and find thumbnails of clips that were never dragged or imported into that bin. I drag the thumbs back to the folders they belong in only to find they pop up somewhere else. Something very screwy there about Sony’s bin thumbnail management I’m afraid.Please Sony if you can attend to these pesky little quirks that otherwise mar a good workflow and layout I for one would be a ‘happy chappy’.
Anyone else come across these quirks in their workflow?

well i’m a happy veggie since they fixed the tc entry problem….
but i agree with you, though not ‘disasterous’, the collapsing tree is very annoying, and presumably pretty simple to fix.
that said, i’m still waiting for media manager to manage my media….

Yes, glad to see the TC fix, it was long overdue. Give the guys at Sony Media their dues they do fix things as time goes by. As you say I can live with the collapsing folder tree but it is annoying. Oh well, edit on and see if NAB brings v7.0 with more fixes and features. One I would like to see is XDCam HD support… or is it already there with the XDCam support?

ithought i read that it was – however, since i’m not even thinking 16:9 sd, i could well be wrong 🙂
