  • 3 second 18 frame offset on edit to tape

Has anyone had a problem with edit to tape where the deck cues up and lays back 3 seconds and 18 frames after where it is supposed to? We are using df sequence and df striped tapes. We have encountered the problem on the DVW a500 and the AJ-1700 HD.

I believe 3 seconds and 18 frames is the difference between drop and non-drop in an actual hour. Peculiar, eh?

We can test before layback to see if this is going to happen by hitting “go to in” from the edit to tape window. If it goes to the wrong tc, we simply re-enter the “in” time code. Then when you hit “go to in” again, it typically goes to the correct in point.

No reference in this particular situation, just taking timing from the incoming SDI signal on the deck.

    Thanks,
    kk

I get a similar problem from time to time with ETT also (not the same offset as you though). Closing ETT and re-opening it always solves the issue.

You may try trashing the preferences, or try a new device control preset to see if that makes any difference.

One of the editors here had a theory that if you used the semi-colon while typing in the time that it would not have this problem. I haven’t found that to be the case. Not that they are typing in colons, but just entering numbers usually.
