Hi guys I’m not sure if I am in the right forum but maybe you guys can help.

I have an event coming up in December in which teams preform a set number of tasks, for the first I would like to set up three projectors that I can control from one computer (the idea being the competitors will have a screen in front of them and one for eithers side of them to pick up information from their peripheral vision) I hope to manage them through Adobe Director so I can set points throughout the video and the competitors must click a mouse to respond to various changes in the video, which I hope to record.

My question is can three projectors run from the one computer? or do I need to find a simpler solution?

Your question is actually how to get three different pictures into three projectors off of one computer video card. I think the best experts to help you with this question are in the live/stage forum, this kind of thing is their bread and butter. I’m pretty sure you’re going to need more than one computer though.

You can run multiple projectors from one computer using a splitter. You will need to acquire additional equipment to make this work. I have done this at various events using a VGA splitter and a signal booster.

Yes, Alan, if the projectors all run the same image.

He’s talking, as far as I can tell, about three independent views, say, front and side views from a flight simulator pilot’s cockpit perspective, or some kind of semi-wrap-around virtual reality setup, say, for simulated target practice with light guns, where each screen is running a different picture. If you want to put one image up over three screens, say to make it really large, you can build a huge comp in something like AfterEffects, assign carfefully cropped versions of each section from that master comp to each screen, and use screen-blending boxes to throw that huge composite image across the three screens acting as one. But I’m thinking the usual graphics cards in a mac pro tower can only do up to two such screens. To make three independent AND interactive feeds, you are going to need at least two video cards, or more likely, multiple computers networked toegther with one of the screen-control presentation systems like AV stumpfl Wings or something. But that’s just my guess, the AV guys in the stage forum will have a better grasp of this because they do it every day.

Yea I thought it might be difficult! I left a question with the stage guys but noticed there is no where near the traffic as this forum so I shall just be patient, thanks for your advice though guys!
