3 Problems: Using Codecs; formatting rendered footage; dvd screen setting
A friend took some video with a digital video camera; he e-mailed me the footage via Yahoo; I uploaded the footage, but Vegas won’t recognize it. I was told to use a codec software to reformat it.
…I thought that would resolve my problem but…
I used the codec software DivXPro to rip a DVD which is formated for TV only, and for the video shoot with the digital camera. The DVD footage works in Vegas, but when rendered to DVDA, the digital camera footage has blotches that appear every now and then on the images; is that the codec info coming through?
Also (another question), what format should I render in if I want to burn a DVD on my Vegas editing system (with DVDA), then take that DVD to my internet computer and save the footage to the hard drive to load on YouTube (for instance)?
And, is there a hidden setting somewhere that determins the screen size after I render, burn a DVD? I (think) I have all the setting set to 720X480 but the after the project is rendered and it plays back, it’s the smaller setting (352x???- can’t remember right off), which makes the images look squashed/short and stumpy.

Because you are recompressing video that is already highly compressed.
