Grazie – the evil of the keyboard is that it loses the nuances of jest. Be sure I take your advice and statements with the utmost regard, and no disrespect was intended.

Oh, so many things to comment on.

If you let DVDA recompress your video, you will compromise quality.
VBR *can* increase the bitrate budget for fast action scenes, but for projects with little motion, such as a play or talking head, you won’t see the difference.
I have been using the Videotagger credits roll generator for many years. Here’s an example: Credits Roll
I really like Videotagger (from Electric Happiness) because I source it with an Excel spreadsheet file, set my text parameters then generate an AVI file that I add to the Vegas timeline. No keyframes, no pan/crop, etc, and it only takes a few minutes from XLS to AVI.

You aren’t restricted to JUST mpeg2, you can try other formats to!

    Yes Graham,
but since my final output was for DVD, I was focusing on an mpg2 render.

The good news is that the legacy text media generator did the trick.

I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time on this and as much as I’d love to continue troubleshooting the poor quality of other media generators, I’m behind on this and other projects and must move on.

Thanks so much for your help Mike and Graham.

    Thanks for your tip Steve,

I may just try that tagger. I like the scrolling map at the end of your credits 🙂

I’ll use VBR for most projects then. Seems like there is no real disadvantage from using it.

[Gilles Gagnon] “but since my final output was for DVD, I was focusing on an mpg2 render.”

I realise that, I was responding to our Chum here, and saying one can also use this s/w for other files too.

You will see at the top of this Forum I;ve posted my MPEG2, it is NOT Windows Media, it IS MPEG2. Just see what can be done.
