    Hi everybody,
I’m in the planning stages of an animation that uses characters made of simple rectangles, but I’d like them to be able to curl and twist in 3D space–sort of like the film strip character animation in movie theaters.

I DO have access to Cinema 4D and Maya, but I was hoping to stick to After Effects…is there any good way to do it in there (or with a plugin) or am I making things harder for myself?

    Thanks!

I’m not sure if this would work for what you’re trying to do but maybe check out Zaxwerks 3D Warps plug-in.

Maybe the Page Turn effect would give you the effect you’re looking for? Depends on how complex you’re looking to go, I guess.

Free Form- free with AE or FreeForm Pro can do true 3d distortion. Check out the mettle website for tutorials on using FreeForm Pro in animation.
