Hey everyone! I’m tinkering with a project and would like to make a front facing character raise a hand and wave to the camera…the problem I’ve run into is the natural rotation of a hand when moving from ones side to up near the head.

In the process of raising an arm, you actually rotate your hand from a position of palms in (toward the body) to palms out (facing the camera). I’ve set up some puppet pins and a character rig (using DUIK) and am happy with the results of the motion – but the end result currently leaves the hand backwards when raised.

How do you go about rotating a hand in this format? Do you simply replace the backwards facing hand with a front facing hand partway through the motion? Replace the whole arm?

Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

I’m not a 100% sure I understand what is going on. Check or uncheck the IK/FK check box with the hand. If you posted a video of the problem it would be helpful.
