29.97fps to 24fps
I shot a video on Mini DV at the usual 29.97 fps. I want to convert it to 24 fps so it will look more “film like.” After I do post production, I want to, of course, convert it back to 29.97 (but obviously just for DVD production; it would still have the 24 fps look). Can somebody please help me with this and tell me what to do?

No no no no…you don’t want to do that. You don’t want to convert 29.97 footage to 23.98 and back again. That will look HORRIBLE. No no. If you want the 24fps look, you either shoot it that way, or use really good plugins designed to make it look that way.

How do I set this up once I’ve downloaded it??? There are no instructions.

Is there no installer? If there is an installer that will put it into the plugins folder. Then launch FCP and it is in the FILTERS.
Then the using and tweaking of it is up to you. For the 24p look, you apply the G FILM effect.

Hey…so it is. It’s a .sit file…needs to be uncompressed…unzipped.

Ah ha! Thanks. Anyway have you tried this plugin? How does it do with the deinterlacing etc. when converting to 24fps?

OH YES…I used it all the time when I was working with DV footage. Not so much anymore, as we can shoot 24fps. But when it wasn’t possible, I used it all the time. Deinterlaces and all
