I’m setting of a project that will house mostly 720p 23.976fps footage. I have some other footage that is 720×480 29.976fps that I want to work with in the same timeline. I want to maintain the highest quality up until I lay off to DVD. Should I set up my project at 29.976 or 24p? Since about 2/3 of my footage is 24p I’m inclined to set up the project around that, however this will worsen the quality of the other footage significantly.

Any advice on how to set up this project is much appreciated!

Whether you choose to work on an HD timeline (23.976) or SD (29.97), in which case HD will probably get you better results, you’ ll have to convert one the framerates first.

You’ll probably need AE, and you can get some good help at https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials.html?id=41 where Andrew did a good plugin for that purpose.

    Good luck,

Thanks! That tutorial is extremely helpful. Another question…Will I be able to author a DVD at 24p? If so, will it run in most DVD players?

    Thanks again for the help!

Yes, you can author in 24P, but you should then be working in a 24P project. It will play in all DVD players..
