    Hi,

I’m trying to render out 2704×1440 from a GoPro. I tried Cineon, DPX, TIFF etc.

I choose custom resolution, input 2704×1440. But the rendered files is a box inside the frame. Meaning I have black bars in all 4 corners.

How do I render 2704×1440 out of Resolve and get the full frame? The project will be finished in HD. But I want to keep the native resolution so I have the ability to zoom in, reframe and stabilize the final edit.

I’m not cutting in Resolve. And I’m using Resolve 10.

    Thanks.

Resolve 10 is pretty goshdarn old and if I remember correctly the older free versions were limited to 1920×1080 export. The newer versions support UHD output for the free version.

I thought this was the problem too. But it lets me export 2704×1440. UHD it doesn’t let me export. But the problem is the exported 2704×1440 is letterboxed inside the frame.

I don’t particularly need Resolve. I just need a free way to convert the files to more manageable format which is not so much of a resources hog as AVCHD, MP4 etc. So I need to convert it to either DNxHD, ProRes or some image sequence. But I need the custom resolution too. Could you recommend any free converter which would do that? Then I won’t need resolve. Thanks.

The thing with the limitation is that it lets you export but it will scale the actual rendered image down to the maximum output. So you would have a 1920×1080 image that is center cut in a 2704×1440 file.

    I see. Makes sense.

Could you recommend another software to convert? Thanks.

My computer is just not fast enough to run new Resolve. But it runs anything else I need and use. Including 3D software and graphics. I wish Resolve wasn’t such a resources hog. 🙁

“I wish Resolve wasn’t such a resources hog”

It has been totally rewritten since version 14 and version 16 is right up with FCPX as being the most efficient NLEs on the planet giving smooth and responsive performance. Please don’t judge it by version 10. Your wish was granted years ago
