2.7 G5’s at NAB…..???!!!
I know its just rumor, but wow, if this is the case….um…..200mhz in 8 months???!!!! Are you kidding me? And also rumor is that it WILL NOT be dual core…..Apple needs to stop getting high off of the iPod profits and start making damn powermacs for professionals that are using their “professional” software and trying to make a living….its really hard to stay on a system that is slow compared to every other PC even though I am in love with all of the software……please tell me its not true….what happened to 3ghz by the end of last year….its not 4 months after the end of the year and the best they can do is 2.7ghz and at $3000….ever feel like you are being ignored and gouged all at the same time…..oh ya and what about still using AGP??? and not giving us more PCI-X slots since the design wont accomodate the newer video cards, that you need for Motion to run well, without blocking a PCI slot…..I really hope this isnt the case…..

If that was true, Apple would quietly slip them out and not launch them at a major event like NAB.

What I just read was leaning towards dual core at those speeds. That would make more sense as Intel and AMD are soon to announce dual core as well.
I hope Apple loses its suit against these rumor sites. I hate to admit it, but the rumors do catch my attention, peak my interest, and make me pay more attention to Mac products. But, I may not know the whole story behind this suit.
I agree about the graphics card though. The PCIe cards in PC land seem really nice. -

If Apple plans to announce new computers, it will be on Tuesday.
Last year Apple announced new Powerbooks concurrently with NAB.

Yeah! If the thinksecret rumors are correct (even 2.8 GHz) Apple is really loosing it. I don’t care what the puntits say, but Steve Jobs stood up a year and one half ago and said 2.0 GHz today and 3.0 next year. I do not care WHO’s fault it is , Apple needs to take responsibility for that statement.
With the probably entrance of dual core 4.0 Ghz Pentium chips, this looks really bad for a company that charges a premium price for the name.
Let stop giving Jobs a pass when Apple doesn’t deliver. Why should they be treated any differently that any other commodity vendor?

Personally I would rather have a slower Mac and FCP than a faster PC with any NLE that runs on that platform. I speak from bitter experience.

I’ll second that thought. Nobody has ever forced me to purchase a Mac, I just do because they work and I earn good money running them. But I’m free to purchase pretty much anything I want.

Riiigghhhhhttttt…..i have invested in Apple products thousands and thousands of dollars….Im not planning on leaving anytime soon….the point is that when do the Mac zealots hold the company they use and love responsible for making statments that they dont deliver on???? For me to just dump all of my Apple-centric gear is not an easy option, so for me to say state that I dont like it and bitch a bit is not so unreasonable….what does seem un reasonable are all the people that always have and probably always will support Apple and everything they do, even if they lose the Pro market share because they have decided to be a home media and entertainment company…..I am concerned because I DO love Apple products so much, and I would hate to switch… just some thoughts…..
