Sony couldn’t tell me, so I’m asking here. Does anyone know if Sony, JVC, and other 26-pin cables are interchangeable? For example, are the coax video lines on the same pins on one as they are on another? I mean, is a 26-pin cable just a 26-pin cable?

    Thanks

I’m not 100 percent sure, but I’ve dealt with 26 pin for awhile and never ran into any issues. My thought is you should check out something like the “Phatcat” system and see if they mention anything about pin configuration to use different cables with their system. If it is an issue you might find some pin assignment info from them, but assuming you don’t have a crossover cable, it should be pin 1 to pin 1 for every pin?

I didn’t even think about checking the PhatCat system. The 26-pin accessory cables for the system are brand-specific between Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Hitachi, and Ikegami, so it seems that they vary on pin assignments for the various signals. It looks like I have my answer. Thanks for the suggestion Chuck!
