There has not been any “official” announcement that other than to say it is coming.
I do know that the new Kona Drivers posted late last week now include 720p50 settings that do work with the 25p capture from the HVX “e” models. You need more than a camera for the post side of things, at the very least to be able to monitor and deliver content and finally the manufacturers are listening to fill some of the gap in the FCP world.

June 5, 2006 at 5:54 pmHey Gary,
when you say that support has been added with the Kona drivers does that practically mean that you can use this footage in FCP or does it just mean that Kona users are ready to go once Apple adds this support?
thanks

an easy setup was added in the latest Kona HD driver builds
you can use it now in FCP. ( I am posting a project today in 720p25)
I do not believe that it is not supported as a workflow by apple yet, however.

June 5, 2006 at 9:28 pmso a kind of use at your own risk scenario, rather than causing your G5 to seize at the slightest wiff of 720 25p footage 🙂
hopefully BMD come to the same party as AJA soon….followed closely by apple.
i think this format is likely the standard in europe and australia/NZ in the years to come, especially as i think 720/25p/50 is the preferred hd broadcast standard that was agreed on by the big cats recently
