25p to 23,98 contain duration
Hi,
I’ve received a 25p 1080HD movie of 30 seconds.
The 30″ clip have to be convert to 23,976fps, and it must have the same duration, 30sec.Normally I use Episode to convert 25 to 23,98. This seems ok, but in this case the duration is 4% to long. If I now speed up 4% the clip in FCP, I get jumps (frames are missing) in the fast motion shots, for example a fast tilt would skips every second a frame.
Is there a way to convert to 23,976, contain the duration and have good results in the fast tilt or moving elements in the shots?

Use Compressor. In the frame controls tab set everything to best and keep the duration @ 100%

thx for quick answer.
I now use the compressor and indeed the speed is ok, but I get a lot of frame blending.
At the 25p clip, the shapes of the cars (in this example) are perfect sharp. If you convert it with compressor to 23,976fps, at best settings, I get ghost/frame blending around the shapes.
The result should be a progressive film look, is this possible?Wim

Try chnaging the rate conversion from Best to Good. That will turn off Optical Flow.
