    Hello everyone,

I have a PAL 25fps file that I recently enhanced and color corrected and now I would like to put it on Blu Ray since it is 1080p. I know Blu Ray doesn’t support 25fps, should I render it in 24fps or 29fps? I also heard about 50i and 60i…what is that? I don’t want anything that will cause ghosting or flickering, if that is possible.

I will be sending this to a friend over in Italy and one here in the states. Any way I can make them compatible with both international players and US players? I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9 to render and DVD Architect Pro 5.0 to make the Blu Ray.

    Thanks in advance,
    Brannon

[Brannon Carty] “I know Blu Ray doesn’t support 25fps, should I render it in 24fps or 29fps?”

You may be confusing 25p with 25fps. Blu-ray definitely supports 25fps.

[Brannon Carty] “I also heard about 50i and 60i…what is that?”

50i is 25fps in two interlaced fields. 60i is 29.97fps in two interlaced fields.

If your footage is progressive you could still encode it at 50i. You will simply have two fields that contain the same temporal information. There should be no ghosting.

Not that I know of. Europe uses PAL with is 25fps and the US uses NTSC which is 29.97fps. Usually PAL players will tollerate NTSC but not the other way around.
