I’m starting a “2.5D” project that will look similar to this:

I’ve built scenes like this before but never back-to-back and my main concern is the transitions from one scene to the next.

Is a project like this made up of a bunch of pre-comped scenes with separate cameras or is it one massive comp with tons of layers and one camera?

    Thanks in advance.

So I would then do all my camera moves in the main comp, correct?

I’m with Dave – I’d do camera movements in the main comp. You could still have precomps of, for instance, layers with animation and movement within them, but it’s probably easiest to keep camera moves within the main comp. But it does make me wonder, although AE doesn’t choke on the number of layers, I have seen instances where it chokes on the size of a layer. If one were doing a long horizontal pan in 3D space, I wonder if layer size issues could come up. But even then, you could have precomps to resolve this and still animate one camera in the main comp.
