24P to DVD
Posted by Joel Mielle on November 26, 2010 at 6:50 amWhat are the best settings to render 24P footage to DVD? I thought DVD could play 24P but Architect doesn’t have that option in the pulldown menu.

The options in the DVD Architect pulldown menu are for the menus. There is no reason for the menus to be 24p. If you want to burn a 24p movie, then you should render it as 24p in Vegas using one of the DVD Architect templates and then drop that movie into DVD Architect. It will keep the movie at 24p while the menus will be whatever format you have selected.

November 27, 2010 at 2:27 amIt might be a PAL issue, as there are no settings for 24P in PAL, only NTSC it seems. What confuses me, if that’s the case what are all the PAL DVD movies playing in?

November 27, 2010 at 3:05 am24P is not NTSC or Pal, just 24P.
After all, film (the “real” 24P) was around long before NTSC or PAL came into existence. -

24p is for NTSC. In PAL countries, the movie studios simply alter the speed of the movie by 4% to go from 24 to 25fps. No one notices a speed difference that small. I’m not sure if PAL DVD players support 24p because of this.
