24p sync issues with CS3 – updates? fixes?
Hello,
I’ve been shooting mostly 30p/60p footage with our JVC HD200. I just started playing around with 24p in preparation for some upcoming shorts that want to shoot 24p.
Capturing 24p with CS3 is ridiculously hard. Timecode goes all wacky, etc. I decided that was bogus and switched to HDVsplit. Video captures fine. Video plays back in perfect sync (audio/video) on camera and in Windows Media Player.
Upon importing the clips to CS3, the audio progressively becomes more and more delayed, maybe up to 1/2 second in 30 minutes. CS3 shows the clip as 23.976 and with the latest CS3 updates, I’m using a 23.976 timeline. I read through what feels like hundred of threads online about similar issues BUT almost each one end with a problem between the tape and the computer. Stream dropouts, jacked up captures, etc. However, seeing as these clips play just fine in Windows media player, it would seem CS3 is having a bit of a tantrum.
Is there a fix for this I don’t know about? I’ve tried all sorts of stuff, but with the clip on a native time line – there aren’t many options.
I will actually just be delivering raw files to other people in most cases BUT I need to know these files are good and that if need be, I can drop them in a timeline and do some work. I really, really want to move to Final Cut soon but other things are on the list first (I dunno if FCP is any better with 24p either, but they seem to be on top of things more than Adobe).
