I am creating scrolling titles in AE 6.5 (MAC) in a 23.976 timeline (the whole project is such).

To create the scroll I have used the “Position” attribute and keyframed it with only two keyframes (one at 0:00 and another at 1:30). Problem is, the text plays back looking a bit jittery. It isn’t horrible, but it certainly isn’t satisfactory for a professional grade project. Any ideas? Is it the 24p? Should I animate in another way?

    Thanks!

I personally have noticed that the subpixel movement in AFX were of not very good quality(often they “wiggle” too much compared to other animated subpixel footage i have). You might want to animate a bitmap too since i noticed that enhanced the quality of subpixel movements.

Other than that, make sure the playback is done on a device that works with a refresh rate that is a multiple of 23.976(multiple of 24 should be fine though)

i read here about critical speed that makes edges jitter. You can even see it when you step through the comp one frame at a time. when i have this problem i just speed up or slow down the roll slightly until I see clean edges between frames.

somewhere I also saw an expression that made sure that the movement between frames was always a whole pixel which prevents edge jitter. something like “value + [0, math.round[1]]” I put it in my notebook, but my notebook is at home. I probably have the punctuation wrong but the math.round function is available in the expression menu i think under java math.

    found the expression: [value[0], Math.floor(value[1])]

your speed must be close to an even multiple of the frame rate — 24 pixels per second.
