Okay guys… I’ve survived in the world of simple filmmaking and want to notch it up a bit. I have Premiere 6.5 which doesn’t handle my DVX100’s 24p advanced. I understand that Premiere Pro does. I assume 1.5 is the latest release.

    Questions:

    1) Is 1.5 stable? (I’m running XP)

    2) Can I export 24p from Premiere Pro? If so, what will be the resulting file type? I understand that it will not be able to play on a TV, but assume it will allow me to create an internet friendly file that will show at 24p. Am I wrong?

    3) Any general suggestions, wisdom, or words of warning in upgrading to 1.5?

    4) Also, and somewhat unrelated, I’ve been running a sloppy configuration to an external TV to monitor my work. (firewire to camera with svideo to a breakout box with rca cables to the tv.) I know… yuck…

Suggestions on a good monitor and a good configuration (hopefully a monitor that will provide a more direct connect.) Please include cost if you know it.

    Kindest Regards,

    Hutch

    1 – Ppro 1.5 is very stable
2 – I am assuming that you are referring to 23.98 not 24fps. This is actually 29.97 because it includes the pull down so it will play on a TV
3 – Upgrading to 1.5 will be the best move you made.
4 – there are a number of ways to do this depending on your budget. I use a Canopus ADVC100 with a widescreen 7″ LCD monitor for editing on my laptop at home or at the lake. I also have a couple of SD-Connect boxes at work which work just fine. Firewire-camera-TV is the way most people do it.
