    Hello all.

I edit as well as shoot. I have just been presented with an old Panasonic HDC-TM300. There is footage shot on it that needs to be incorporated into a show shot at 24p on more professional cameras.

The default setting on the TM300 is 29.97 fps (60i/interlaced)

I was told that the video was shot using something called Digital Cinema Mode which according to the manual for the camera (which I found online) says is 24p. The video files are AVCHD. However when I bring the files into either Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro in the standard way they show as being 29.97 and interlaced (upper 60i).

Thinking that maybe the scenes were shot with the incorrect setting I did a test shoot with the camera. I followed the manual for the Digital Cinema 24p setup but it still imports as 29.97 and interlaced. Does anyone know what’s going on?

    Thanks.

It was possibly shot as 24 over 30 with pulldown added to fill out the frames. It might be possible to reverse telecine it back to 24 fps using software like the old Cinema Tools that came with Final Cut Studio.
