    hey guys!

I’m doing my next short film and I’m thinking if 24p would look better if i drag the videos in a 24p sony vegas window (project properties) or just render my 60i videos after to 24p? Which do you guys recommend?

    Thnx!

I would recommend working in 24p which means converting the files to 24p first and placing them into a 24p project. Only then can you really tell how things are cutting together. Of course it helps if you shoot in 24p so that you can see if your camera motion is smooth or not. Also all of your generated media will be 24p and your transitions will also be timed at 24fps. Finally, if you plan to do any cropping or resizing, you want to deinterlace first and rendering 60i to 24p before you place the footage on the timeline will ensure that you don’t have interlacing problems later.

I have also just render my 60i projects to 24p as a final render and they have come out pretty good. You could get surprises this way but if you don’t have any quick pans and you aren’t cropping or resizing, you should be fine.

Do I still need a software that lets me convert my 60i videos to 24p?
What if I don’t have that software? Can I just open Vegas, then change the project properties to my 24p settings (what is the best pp settings for 24p?) then drag my 60i videos, edit, then render again in 24p? Would that be the best way?

You can use Vegas to convert you footage to 24p and then work in a 24p project or you can just work in a 60i project and render to 24p at the end. You don’t need any other software either way.
