24p or 23.976p?
Hi Guys
I’m an editor prepping for a feature which will master at 24p. Some of what I have read regarding the Varicam has confused me, specifically when people write 24p (really 23.976).
Since my Avid project will be 24p, I expect the camera to shoot true 24fps to sync with the audio correctly. Does the Varicam shoot true 24p?
I’m in PAL-land so I’m not used to dealing with crazy fractional frame rates.

YES
the camera can do 24.0 fps when the camera is set internally to 60Hz, which is the normal setting for PAL countries.However, 24p on that avid maybe 23.98 also.
