24p… OOPS, I think I FUBARed this one!
Hey MichaelP and all other 24p masters. Got a rough one for ya…
Facts:
– Indie short shot on Canon XL2 in 24pA (24p Advanced mode – 2:3 pulldown done in the camera).
– Digitized into Avid Adrenaline HD in a 23.976 project.Problem: When we play the originally digitized footage in the Avid, some of it is jerky… as if the Canon’s own internal 2:3 pulldown process sucks… and some of it is just fine.
Question: is miniDV 24pA a bad way to shoot?
– If so, should I recommend 24p ONLY and not 24pA from now on?
– If not, did I mess up by putting pre-pulled down material into a 23.976 project? The BIG Questions:
– If I messed it up by putting 24pA footage in a 23.976 project, is there a way to correct by creating another project and transferring media? 30i? 24p?
– How would audio be effected?I’m wondering if the cinematographer accidentally shot in both 24p and 24pA – depending on the day. Man, that would suck… although great for me cuz I didn’t FUBAR this one… ?
