After reading all the helpful threads on this forum I’m a little confused as to the correct settings for shooting in the UK. Does the internal clock of the varicam get set to 59.94Hz or 60Hz? When shooting at 24p should the shutter angle be set to 172.8 (as per a film camera) or 180 to avoid lighting flicker and is there a table of acceptable frame speeds and shutter angles?

    Thanks any help.

    Phil

Iam no expert, but Ive used the varicam a few times now.As far as I know the 59.94Hz setting will make your 30fps setting 29.97,and the same for 24fps if you want 23.97(or what ever it is).

If you want straight 24 or 25 fps put it to 60Hz,and yes I found that 172.8 got rid of flicker in 50hz countrys at 24fps.If its just outside stuff with no lights I usualy put it back to 180.With the logic of that helping a film look.if thats what you want.

Sorry if this is wrong,if so could someone else shed light!

    Thanks
