    Hello,
I am dealing with a mix of 24p footage and 24pADV footage, shot with a Panasonic DVX100 and Panasonic DVX100a, and I’m using FCP version 5.1.4 (don’t want to upgrade mid-project).

While I am meticulous about labeling my tapes, apparently one of my DP’s is not – I have footage labeled 24pADV and therefore I believe I captured it using the 3:2 pulldown removal option (it was captured a while ago, I’m revving up again for more editing).

I know that by toggling through frame by frame I can see whether the footage was shot in 24p (3:2 ratio of noninterlaced to interlaced) or 24pADV (4:1 ratio), but am not sure if I can tell what with what setting the footage was CAPTURED (ie 3:2 pulldown removal or standard 24p capture).

Sincere thanks for any help or clarification that can be offered (and hopefully others can learn from my question)

When I toggle through the footage frame-by-frame, I see the 3:2 pattern , indicating to me that the footage was in fact shot at standard 24p.

The video rate column in the browser says 29.97. I am not sure if this indicates that I captured it using the regular NTSC 24p easy set-up, which will be fine since it matches the footage…However if I erroneously removed the pulldown I think the footage will have frames removed that shouldn’t be removed…what a headache. Knowing a way to figure out which way I captured it might save me a LOT of time.

I will eventually be editing in a 23.98 timeline, and will be using Cinema Tools to convert the standard 24p footage for use in the 23.98 timeline.
