our school requires that we edit on PC Avid Xpress Pro machines, yet will not loan out the manual for me to read up about setting up 24p workflow. does anyone have experience editing 24p footage on avid that wouldn’t mind walking me through project settings and workflow. Pentium machines, no capture card, will use my DVX100A as the deck.

(and si, I know this is a supernoobie question. my apologies. if there was a juniorDVX forum, I would be its class treasurer.)

I’d suggest sticking with the standard 29.97 DV NTSC settings. Unless you’re going out to film there’s little to be gained by pushing the rock uphill into 24p editing land. Search through this forum and you’ll get the picture of why 24p native editing is not essential with the DVX.
