24P cadence problems… help me please
Hi guys,
I’m cutting a feature film that is shooting on both the DVX100 and DVCPRO50. They are supposed to be shooting in the advanced pull down mode. I have captured some of the DVCPRO50 footage in 29.97 with the remove advanced pull down setting on. After capture however, the clips are still 29.97 and when I analyze the pull down pattern, their appears to be two interlaced frames rather than one, suggesting that the footage was not shot advanced. I thought, ok, no problem, I’ll remove the pull down with Cinema Tools, like you do with telecined film. However, no matter what I seem to do, Cinema Tools extracts a 23.98 file that continues to have interlaced frames. I am starting my file on an A frame and everything and have tried both F1-F2, and F2-F1 pull down patterns. No luck, they both contain interalaced frames. After Effects has succeeded where Cinema Tools, has failed, but it completely throws out the timecode, so is not a preferable option. Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is this material advanced or standard? Why won’t Cinema Tools remove the pull down properly?
Cheers
Julian
