please bear with me as i try to explain this…

I have 24p footage shot on a varicam in 24p mode that will be downconverted to standard def and broadcast on TV at 720 x 486.

I am laying a 3d animation into the scene that need to feel like it is in the scene. The porblem is… the ed package I use does not export fields – just frames… so here is what I am doing:

    1) Creating the 3d animation in 24 fps and importing that into After Effects as such.

    2) Exporting from AE as 29.97 fps and importing that into FCP which has the 24p footage converted to 29.97 fps – ready for broadcast.

My question is… is this the right way to do it, and is there any way to get fields out of the CG footage in AE?

Someone suggested I render my CG as 60 fps and convert to fields in AE but I do not know how to do this?

    Comments very much appreciated.

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice – unfortunately i do not have the luxury of doing this with the original footage.

I have downconverted 720×486 footage that is at 29.97 fps.

The footage was given to me already – please advise on the best thing for me to do.

    thanks so much
