    Hey Guys,
    Here is my problem..

I Just bought my HVX, and i filmed my cat in 720p24p 60fps, it “Log&Transferred” Fine. I filmed some wildlife in 720p24p 24fps, and when i “Log and Transferred” my footage plays back much to jumpy and without half of its audio (almost like slow motion… but plays back normal, how i want it on the HVX). I’ve transferred since in 720p24PN 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps and that all works smooth and easy.
i’ve tried every preset i could think of and i’ve already talked to several HVX users who aren’t sure of how to fix the problem.
my P2 card is now full and i would like to be able to capture this footage before i format the card, so i’m at a dead end right now and i need help around it, let me know friends.

You don’t capture P2 you transfer it, copy it to your hard drive, keeping the folder structure in tact. Then you can format the card.

720p @24p with a frame rate of 60 is slow mo, no audio is recorded.

If you shot in 24p vs 24pN when you log and transfer you need to make sure that remove duplicate frames is checked in the prefs and it should come in correctly.

This thread is 2 years old, only a couple of people will see it, the forum leaders and someone that is on the thread before. Post a new thread if this doesn’t fit you up

I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. 24pn doesn’t adopt another compression besides the 100Mbit/s used for DVCproHD?

I always figured that the difference in record time was due to a higher compression used similar to the compressions they use in HDV or the Sony 35Mbit/s compressions on the EX1-3.

So you are saying that the difference in file size is due to the fact that when a Panasonic records in 24p it is recording 24 over 60 and there for taking up the same amount of data that 60p records at? That 24p/n records in a true 24 frame output.

Just want to be clear here.

Try to be clear, when you shoot 24pN there is not more compression but the 100Mbps is based on 60 frames, so the 24pN will actually be 40Mbps but each frame is getting the same bitrate.

So 100Mbps / 60 frames gives you an average of 1.6Mb for each frame, so then 24 frames X 1.6 Mbpf = 40 Mbps.

So the quality of each frame should be the same whether you shoot in 60 or 24 fps.

There is nowheres near the compression of HDV going on.

That is really really great to know! I had no conception that the 100Mbit/s was only for 60i! So I am really not giving up anything with 24p/n other than the ability to dump to a field drive!? That is great. THANK YOU!
