    Hi folks,
I am onlining a a documentary shot on the pani DVX100a. I am not the filmmaker so I was not part of the shooting. What is the easiest way to figure out if the footage was shot in advanced mode or the normal 3/2 pull down mode on the camera? I think it would have been the normal mode but he had some weird timecode issues and breaks so it may be a mixed timecode mode on the same tapes. The shooter of the doc hasen’t gotin back to me yet so I am trying to be proactive about finding out the solution. I am using FCP 5 and BMD Decklink SP card, the footage is playing back on a sony DSR 1100 with an analog out card. I am cross posting in FCP.

    TIA
    Trinity

Capture at 29.97, then step through frame by frame. 24pA has one interlaced frame every 5 frames. 24pN has more in a different pattern.

If you have the tapes, and can play them back in a DVX, you can press the “counter” button until it displays “FR” (for “frame rate”); it’ll tell you there whether the clip currently playing is 24p or 24pA.

Get the most from your DVX camera. The DVX Book and DVX DVD are now available on ebay and at Amazon (https://www.fiftv.com/db)
