We’ve been shooting in both DV50 and 720PN, and recently had to shoot a scene in 30 fps to match a legacy project. When we did, we were surprised to notice that it appear you lose about a half stop when you go from 30 to 24, in DVCPro, DV50 or 720. Anyone know why?

Are you sure you’re not just swapping into a different scene file or shutter setting? Of course there’s a difference in how 30 fps will see a scene compared to how 24 fps will see it- they are vastly different taking formats.

Frame Rate * Shutter Angle = Shutter
    1/24 * 1/2 = 1/48
    1/30 * 1/2 = 1/60
