    Hi Everybody,
I’m pretty fresh to all of this.
I am doing a large project with footage shot from 5D Mark ii @ 23.98 fps.
There are some additional interviews to be done and the videographer wants to shoot with a D3 I at true 24 fps. Is this going to be an issue adding this to a 23.98 sequence or a simple conversion of the framerate in the transcoding process do the trick?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    Hey Dave,
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the videographer (also my partner) is in a bind. His 5D isn’t available so he’s only got a D3 at hand which shoots at 24fps. It would be a huge pain/cost to track down a 5d at this point. You think this is imperative?
    Thanks,
    Adam

That tutorial doesn’t cover the D1.

But yeah, you tell him what to shoot. He doesn’t tell you.

24fps won’t sync up with any second system audio you have. It won’t pay/intercut smoothly with your 23.98 footage. Shooting with it at that frame rate should only be considered when you have no other options. You can try a test shot, and then use Cinema Tools to conform that to 23.98 and see how it looks and works. That might be an option.

Using the same audio with 24 and 23.98 is an issue, but solvable. You will need to pulldown the 24 video and audio. It will throw of the TC off on the audio so syncing will be a pain. The .1% speed difference will not be noticeable at all. The fact that you are using two different cameras will be.

    Hey Everyone,
Thanks a ton for the help on this. In the end, my business partner manages to track down a different camera to avoid any issues in the editing suite.
    I really appreciate everyones input.
    Cheers,
    Adam
