240fps

I need to be able to save clips that I am creating in LiveType & Motion at 240fps (I know it’s high, but that’s what the signs I’m developing for require). I seem to be unable to do this – can you suggest a way to do this?

I’m using FCP 6 / OSX 10.5.8

Hi Kevin,
240 fps is not an standard time-base.
I don’t think you will find anything that render more than 60fps.

I can save livetype at 99fps, but I do need to go to 240fps. That’s what this software requires.

In Motion you can set manually till 150fps.
Try AE or Shake.

Signs?

Are you thinking to use a “240 Hz” HDTV?

If so, I don’t think they can take a 240 fps input (I wish they did, because then we could fast forward in editing with a quality like a flatbed, gotta say I miss that sometimes…).

What they do is take 30 or 60 fps and create intermediate frames to create a smoother motion.

Kevin, could you comment on what you are doing?
I have never ever heard of any device requiring 240 Frames per second? (not one of my military clients go beyond 72 fps for PLAYBACK)

are you sure that you do not have the frame rate and display frequency screwed up?
Video playback is usually at 50hrz or 60hrz- that is not the frame rate- that is the refresh rate of the display.

I was given the specs of 288px x 288px for a 10ft square sign at 240fps. I’ve been supplying them at 99fps but have been asked to increase this. I know the px size is tiny for the viewing area size, but they look great from 100ft+ away which is where they’re seen from.

I’m waiting to speak with the sign makers directly. As soon as I hear from them, I’ll respond further with more details.

But, which device will play that file?
How will you display a 240fps video signal?
I don’t understand the purpose.

I don’t understand it either, but I’ve managed to get a 240fps conversion, and the client says it works perfectly.
