I’ve been sent an EDL from an AVID at 23.976 and I need to convert it to 29.97. I opened Cinema Tools and used the EXPORT> 24 to 30 frame EDL option. However, the EDL (which has the extension .edl is not selectable.

So I thought to import it into FCP. It wouldn’t import into a 23.98 sequence but would into a 29.97 sequence but it is of course all wrong.

So back to Cinema Tools, I have mucked around by generating an EDL in FCP that Cinema Tools lets me select, then copying and pasting the actual edl into the document in Textedit. Hit save and voila the edl is no longer selectable. I am not sure what makes Cinema Tolls see a selectable file but the Help doesn’t help and I don’t know what to do to make the EDL visible to Cinema Tools. Anyone know the secret hand shake?

I should report that I have another drive with Vers 5.1.4 on and so I fired that up instead and the older Cinema Tools was able to make the file conversion. It let me select the edl files that vers 6 wouldn’t.

Perhaps this is a bug? I am on V6.0.1 (please don’t suggest I upgrade as I am in the middle of two long form jobs). Can anyone else verify this behaviour in any of the vers 6 flavours please.
