23.98 to 59.94
I am cutting a show in 23.98 but have to output at 59.94. The kona is doing this conversion but I realize I have to hit 21:30 running time and I need to know what 21:30 running time is in 23.98 on my sequence, so that when it becomes 59.94 on the tape it actually hits 21:30. I also have to do cue sheets etc.. and need to know how to convert all my timecode so my cue sheets match my tape, not my sequence.
Any idea how to do this?
I put slugs into a 59.94 dropframe sequence until 21;30;00 and then copied and pasted those slugs into a 23.98 sequence and I ended up with 21:28:14. Is this correct? And then how can i figure out how to redo my cue sheets etc.. without checking the tape as I don’t have an HDCAM SR deck handy.

I downloaded this calculator but it doesn’t seem to make sense to me. It says that if I want to hit 21:30 in my 29.97 drop frame sequence my 23.98 sequence needs to be 00:26:52;13. I don’t see how that makes any sense. Am I using the calculator incorrectly?

YOu didn’t do it right. What you need to do is put the drop down setting to 23.98fps DROP…type in the show time you need to hit…then switch to 23.98 fps non-drop. Doing that you’ll see that your non-drop time needs to be 21:28:18
