Is there a simple way to export 23.98 footage out of FCP with a 3:2 inserted? Can you even do that, or must you turn it to 24 to insert a pulldown? Anyhow, I know you can use cinema tools to remove the pulldown, but how do you put on back in (and preferably straight from FCP)? My compressor doesn’t work by the way (don’t know why). I usually export the clip and then insert pulldown through After Effects…but I know I must be doing this the round about way.

P.S. I mean to ask if I can add a pulldown to a QT on the fly…I know that FCP can add it on the fly on an output to tape.

I just keep amending this…but I just searched around, and looks like Nattress Standards converter is the way to go…bummer. What about laying off to digibeta through my Kona card (which is supposed to add the 3:2 on the fly, right?) and then capturing off the tape? This seems like a lot of work, but Flame guys do this kind of thing all the time.

    Thanks,

You have found the easy two ways to do it. Layoff and recapture, use nattress, or after effects can also add pulldown.

Man, I hope someday we can just export with pulldown straight from FCP…seems like a no-brainer to me as far as things that should be included within the app.
