23.98 Project in Xpress Pro Mac/Mojo is turning into a nightmare
Hi guys. Here is the scenario. We are shooting a 23.98 HD film on the Sony F9000. We are downconverting the tapes to 29.97 DVcam so we can cut in the xpress pro. Here lies the problem. When digitizing the takes are not pulling down correctly. I get a real bad jitter on all of the “C” frames. I have followed the rules to a T. I’ve digitized on the O’s of both the 29.97 tc and 24 tc. I’ve tried every trouble shoot imaginable. If i digitize in a Symphony the pull down works beautifully, but in Xpress with Mojo it falls to pieces. Any suggestions–no one on the Avid forum seems to know what to do????

Are you digitzing over analog or FireWire? HD Downconverts create NORMAL pulldown (2:3:2:3) at DV resolutions. which is not supported over FireWire in v.4.6 and v.5.0. This capability was introduced in v.5.1.
Try analog with RS-422 at 28:1.
