    Hello everyone.

I’m working on a TV show filmed primarily with two XDCAM cameras with the frame rate of 23.98 and none in field dominance. I also have a 5D camera that shoots some covering images.

Unfortunately our beloved photographer decided to leave the 5D camera in 29.97 with dominant upper.

My work sequence is equal to the settings of the principal cameras. When I place the the 5D images in that sequence they do not work well. I do not know whether on account of the fields dominance or the frame rate. I’ve tried different compressions, but can’t get a satisfactory result.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Barbara.

The 5D only shoots progressive frames, so you shouldn’t have any field dominance. Is the 5D stuff only b-roll or is it sync sound?

If the 5D is only b-roll, you can conform the media with cinema tools or compressor.

    Using Compressor:
In the video settings tab, select the codec (ProRes I hope) and change the frame rate to custom/23.976.
In the Frame Controls tab at the bottom select Rate Conversion/Best.
Click the very bottom button that says, “so source frames play at 23.976”
Output at 100% of source and yer good to go.

    In Cinema Tools:
Open the clip in Cinema Tools
At the bottom right of the viewer, select “Conform”
    Select 23.98 (23.976 actually)
    Hit “Conform”
WARNING: This will not make a copy, but will alter your clip.
