Hi. Any help would be greatly appreciated – i’m shooting on a dvx 100a in 24p advanced mode. HOWEVER I’ve got 9 hours of footage which was apparently shot in regular 24 not in 24p advanced. It comes into fcp as 29:97. If I select remove advanced pulldown, it plays in the timeline, but it looks TERRIBLE!!! Totally jerky and unusable. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried reconforming in cinema tools, but all the footage is still jerkey and bad. I’ve put it in the timeline and rendered it and it still looks horrible. It’s documentary footage and there’s no way to re-shoot. Does anybody know what to do in this case? How should I re-capture? Is my project dead in the water? Is there any hope? Help. Thank you.

Look at the Standards Converter v2 at http://www.nattress.com. It might be able to convert the 24P to 24PA.

    $100.

You need to capture it as NTSC 29.97, and then bring it into cinema tools, remove the pull down and you will end up with a 24p file. That will look and feel the same as your 24p Advanved material that was captured using pull down removal.

    Hope that helps.

Juan, that’s the totally correct workflow! Remove the pulldown in CT and edit everything on a 23.98fps timeline.

My little plugin will help if you shot a small amount of 24pA and you want it on a 29.97fps timeline. I don’t think it’s too suitable for this workflow situation.
