I’m capturing VariCam footage via HDSDI from an HD150 on a Tiger/Kona 2/FCP5 G5 with the latest versions, updates, and drivers.

There is not a sync issue, but upon recapture of footage (such as for online), the clips are 1 frame ahead of the original capture with timecode reading identical to the original (like it has been remapped 1 frame ahead). Thus, an online session would result in all clips being 1 frame off from the original offline edit.

Has anyone seen this behavior? So many updates have been released recently, that I don’t know if this issue is new or old.

Hi..try and change your capture offset to -3 frames in the audio video prefs/device control ..I think you will find the sync to be on..let me know as I have a call into AJA re this

Yes – changinging the offset to -3 did fix the problem. The complete response I got from AJA tech support was:

Go to FCP audio video settings -> device control presets click on and check the following:

1)Protocol is set to Panasonic RS422.

2)Set TC to VITC + LTC

3)The Capture Offset is nominally -2.5: try adjusting down by .5 to -3.0 then try -3.5. In other words increment this offset by .5 until capture is accurate.

    Thanks for the reply.
