Activity Forums Avid Media Composer 23.976p NTSC or 24p NTSC?

    with NTSC Standard Def cameras, there will always be pulldown as there is no standard for 24 (23.976) video for that resolution.

    In HD, you can have native 23.976p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, 30p, 50p, 59.94p and 60p. These will be available to not in 720 and 1080 formats. And can have pulldown or not.

    Camera manufactures have added pulldown formats in HD to allow the “film look while still editing at 1080i by providing the pulldown. For example, in Panasonic cameras the nomenclature is 24p for 24fps with pulldown versus 24pN for “native” as well as being 23.976 frame rate. 24 in this scenario is just shorthand for 23.976 and I suspect they had limited space in those menus.
