    Hi there, Guys

Need to deliver spots in 1080i29.97. Was shot, edited and graded in 1080p23.98. I now have masters in 23.98 that needs to be converted at best possible quality to 1080i (Lower First) as QuickTime DNxHD to the broadcast station. What’s the best route?

I’ve opted for the Compressor route, (I’ve downloaded DNxHD codec) but see no option to set the Field Dominance when creating the preset using DNxHD 1080i29.97. Am I going down the wrong trail here? Any advice appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Use Adobe Media Encoder, make a custom Quicktime setting, 1920×1080, square aspect ratio, 29.97, lower field first. Select Avid DNxHD for the codec and click Codec Settings. Choose the flavor of DNxHD you want (you’ll want the DNxHD 1080i/59.94), set the color levels (709 or RGB), then compress.

Are you sure they want lower field first though, if you’re delivering 1080i? I thought all 1080i footage was upper field first and only SD was lower field first (in NTSC).

Aah. Good old Media Encoder. I’ve obviously not graduated to using its strengths yet… (Still stuck on the FCP workflows.)
    Awesome.

Concerning field order: I’ll cross check with them, but that’s what the spec sheet calls for.

    Thanks!
