23.976 Mpeg2 shows as 29.97 in Encore – correct?
Hey all,
I have a 23.976 progressive MPEG2 encoded from a 23.976 uncompressed master file. When it’s imported into Encore it shows as ‘29.97’. It’s not transcoding, and all seems to be well with the final video – is this the way that Encore deals with footage like this? Dragging and dropping this M2v into premiere shows it’s proper attributes, as a 23.976 file.
Interested in other people’s workflows around this issue –

That’s correct – Encore doesn’t have a 24p timescale internally, and so it shows as 29.97 fps in Encore. But it will write out to DVD as 24p.

Tahnks for the reply – figured as much, but I just had to hear it from someone else. Hope they fix that in the new versions – even if it’s just for a piece of mind.
