For those who can not afford a 23″ Apple or 24″ Dell display for now but have a long-form documentary to edit, I was wondering if a 21″ flat Trinitron Computer CRT monitor would work with an iMac (intel) or a Powerbook Pro for editing.

These beasts are now out of fashion an readily available here in Europe for 80 Euros ($100 USD)used on ebay. Some sport resolutions of 1920×1440 and even 2048×1536 which should be enough even for HDV, not to mention that they are supposedly color-accurate enough for color correction.

According to Apple specs, the Power Book pro with a DVI to VGA adaptor should be able to drive a 2560 X 1600 pixel secondary display (dual display or video mirroring) while even the 17″ iMac can drive a 2045×1536 analogue Monitor.

Anyone NOT think this would work?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
