  • 2015: dynamic AE links not working in PP

my PP 2014 project with AE 2014 dynamically-linked sequences (which were editable within in PP), show up now as “media offline”, so i loaded the AE 2014 projects into AE 2015 and resaved them. then went back to the PP project and put the new AE 2015 sequences in. no dice. in the attempt i get an error window “File Import Failure” with a generic error.

are these not linkable anymore or is there a new way to do it?

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

    Hi Tad,
Sounds like you have a case of version confusion. Make sure both applications are the same version while you are working with them.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

ya, i completely realize it sounds that way, but i’ve checked and rechecked. 2015 versions all around. SOME of the dynamically linked AE sequences updated automatically in my project (they are lower thirds for a tv show), while others did not not and continue to show “media offline”. tried reimporting the master AE (2015 version) project which contains several sequences, but no dice.

not sure if it’s a bug, or me, or both.

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

Can you verify this by telling me the versions you are running? Check the Splash Screens.

well, i made sure i resaved the AE project in 2015, then i had to reimport that whole thing into my new project. SOME of the AE comps relinked/updated within my PP project, others did not, so i had to manually import just those comps. seems fine now.

thanks for helping out a bonehead!
