2007 macpro vs 2009 mbp
I work with FCP 7 on my 2009 mbp, 2,66ghz 8Gb of ram, 320HD, geforce 9600gt video card.
I might be able to trade for a 2007 macpro, Quad 2.66, 16Gb ram, Ati 1GB 5770 video card, 250HD.Is it an upgrade or just a lateral move?
Are there any limitations on a 2007 macpro as far as OS?…

lateral? That is a downward move. The 2007 Mac Pro is almost 7 years old now. Versus the five year old laptop. Stick with the laptop. In my humble opinion

Probably true. There will be no memory advantage, that’s for sure. You will have more options for better GPUs, if you decide to come closer to the current offering there, and better storage/data throughput with the MacPro… neither will be eligible going forward for the latest OS’s.

I am confused… So is the macpro better?
My pb is that I have $0 to invest. I am just trying to make my life a little easier with a better machine.
I always heard people say that the advantage of a macpro is its flexibilty as far as specs upgrade.So you guys think that 16Gb or Ram, Quad 2.66 and 1 Gb video card won’t be better than my current mbp 2.66, 8Gb?
