2 video stream playback
Posted by D. Gregor hagey on June 13, 2009 at 12:00 amNot too sure where to post this on the Cow. It’s a video installation question. I have 2 HD QTs that I need to loop playback in sync to 2 different projectors. I’m not too sure whether to author Blu-Ray DVDs, have 2 laptops, 2 media players (2 HDCAM decks are out of the budget).
Thanks,
Gregor

June 13, 2009 at 6:33 amYou can play few movies at the same time with a laptop, but for projection you will need a computer with two video cards.

June 13, 2009 at 12:29 pmDo you have one video that you want to show on both projectors? If this is the case, all you need is some type of distribution amplifier that will send the video signal to each projector.
There are many output devices available. It all depends on what source you are playing out of (video, computer, etc.). Is this for a permanent installation or temporary?
If temporary, call a video rental facility and they can help you out.Steve Eisen

June 14, 2009 at 3:26 amDunno if this helps but….
I recently did with a job that had 4 projectors all needing sync pictures looping all weekend; without a break for recuing etc.
So I cut all the vision into a 4 way split HD project and played the finished product off a Macbook Pro and a MXO2 at the venue where each projector framed up a single quadrant. I originally was going to put it out to Bluray for playback but just couldn’t get the player to do a near seemless loop.Baz
What would I do without the ‘UNDO’ button!!!!

Thanks for the contribution, that’s what I was going to suggest, single playback source, videowall-style splitter or scalar system. Explore the digital signage industry for help finding these boxes. The problem with synched outputs is, unless they are mechanically locked together, they will drift over a few hours, nothing is that accurate.
